A homeless man has an amazing voice!
He holds a sign reading:
<<I have a God given gift of voice, I’m an ex-radio announcer who has fallen on hard times, PLEASE! any help will be great-fully appreciated and thank you and God bless you, happy holiday.>>
The man who recorded this video was hoping someone will see this and offer him a job. Figers crossed!
Do you want to know what happened after this video was recorded?
This is the log entry from the man who recorded this video:
Throwing this video from the Columbus Dispatch out there, hoping we can find this talent a place to call home.
UPDATE-1: Many thanks go out to all of you who have been tossing phone numbers and e-mails my way for Ted's sake. I went up to Hudson/I-71 (Columbus) today, but Ted wasn't there. He is going to be on air tomorrow morning on radio station WNCI. I've left my contact info w/WNCI to call/e-mail me on a way to get your enormous opportunities over to him.
I'm going to give him a Trac phone (w/ample minutes) so that he can return calls to all of you.
Hopefully, in some way I'll get in contact w/him. Peace.
UPDATE-2: To all those who have been writing me (as one of Ted's only means of contact), I have learned that the radio station interviewing him tomorrow (1-5-11) a.m. is going to make him a formal offer. Whether true or not, we'll see.
Hope it works out well for him. That was the whole point of me posting this video. I cannot thank enough everyone who was willing to do their part in offering Ted their helping hand.
Whoever lands him is certainly getting much more than a memorable personality; they're getting a great human being as part of their team.
My best to all.
UPDATE-FINAL: Well everyone. You can give yourselves and Ted a high-five. He's being given offers hand-over-fist over the air. He'll be set for life.
My request to all. Whenever you run across a story such as this, don't assume it'll take a life of its own, on its own. It won't. It can't. There are too many other stories that drown out the one before it.
You need to spend time to get that story and its word out to many. If you care, you'll do it.
Keep the faith, pay forward and always lend a hand; even if you're the one who needs it.
God bless Mr. Williams. I'm sure we'll be seeing more of him for sometime to come.
But hthis is not all, he not only got a job but turned into a celebrity in just a couple of days. Watch this TV interview: From rags to riches.
There are often homeless people asking for change on freeway exits ramps, but recently there has been this guy with an interesting sign at I-71 and Hudson Street, his hand-written sign says he has the God-given gift of a great voice.
Hey, we're gonna make you work for your dollar, say something with that great radio voice.
When you're listening to nothing but the best of oldies you're listening to Magic 98.9.
Thank you so much, God bless you, thank you.
And we’ll be back with more right after these words.
And don’t forget tomorrow morning is your chance to win a pair of tickets to see this man live in concert.
Thank you so much.
Well, when I was 14 years old (I was born and raised in Brooklyn New York) when I was 14 I kind of listened to one of our area radio announcers and I went as a field trip to go meet the guy and he looked nothing like what he sounded like so I asked him about that and he said to me: “listen, radio is defined: theatre of mind”. And so when he said theatre of mind, I just said, wait, I can’t be an actor, I can’t be an on-air personality but the voice just became something of a development over years and I went to school for it, and then alcohol and drugs and a few other things became part of my life and I got two years clean, and I’m trying hard to get it back and hopefully somebody from one of these televisions or radios says: “hey, I need a voice over or I need something”. So, you know, I’m hoping one day: “Watch Family Guy week nights at seven thirty on Fox 28″. Anything, that’s what it is, and I love radio.

WE'RE GONNA MAKE YOU WORK FOR YOUR DOLLAR= I'll give you a dollar but you'll have to do something for me.

GOD BLESS YOU= This is a subjunctive form expressing a wish = May God bless you (that's why there is no –S for the 3rd person singular, it's not "God blesses you", which would be a fact, not a wish).
CHANCE= Opportunity.
LIVE= /laɪv/ In person, physically present (not through a recording).
RAISED= Brought up. If you raise a child, you take care of them, provide for them and give them an education.

Normal: Go to see Mary.
Colloquial: Go and see Mary.
Slang: Go see Mary.
AN ON-AIR PERSONALITY= A person who shows on television (a news reader, a programme conductor, presenter, etc)
I GOT TWO YEARS CLEAN= I went through a process to help me stop having drugs and now I haven't consumed drugs for two years.
I'M TRYING HARD= I'm making a big effort.
A VOICE OVER= A voice that you can hear but the person is not seen. For example, in documentaries you often see images and then hear a voice-over which explains it, but you can't see the actual person speaking.
