A homesick song of Ralph McTell.
There's four who share this room and we work hard for the craic
And sleeping late on Sundays well I never get to Mass

It's a long, long way from Clare to here
It's a long way from Clare to here
It's a long, long way, and it gets further day by day
Oh, It's a long, long way from Clare to here

When Friday comes around when Terry's only into fighting
My ma would like a letter home but I'm too tired for writing

It's a long, long way from Clare to here
It's a long way from Clare to here
It's a long, long way, and it gets further day by day
Oh, It's a long, long way from Clare to here

It almost breaks my heart when I think of Josephine
I told her I'd be coming home with my pockets full of green

It's a long, long way from Clare to here
It's a long way from Clare to here
It's a long, long way, and it gets further day by day
Oh, It's a long, long way from Clare to here

The only time that I feel alright is when I'm into drinking
It sort of eases the pain of it and it levels out my thinking

Oh, It's a long, long way from Clare to here
It's a long way from Clare to here
It's a long, long way, and it gets further day by day
Oh, It's a long, long way from Clare to here

I sometimes hear a fiddle play or maybe it's a notion
I dream I see white horses dance upon another ocean

It's a long, long way from Clare to here
It's a long way from Clare to here
It's a long, long way, and it gets further day by day
Oh, It's a long, long way from Clare to here

It's a long way from Clare to here.
CRAIC: Irish word, more or less to have fun.
"From Clare to Here" is an Irish folk ballad about emigration written on 1977 by Ralph McTell.
Many Irish men had to leave their families in order to look for job in England. They felt very homesick. The man in this song thinks of his village, Clare and all the things he left there. Unfortunately he only seems to find comfort in alcohol.
