A popular camp action song for children.
If you want to know how to dance this song watch this other video where a camp leader is training other camp councelors to learn the motions (the version is a bit different but the mechanics are the same): Father Abraham Had Many Sons.
Father Abraham had many sons
Many sons had Father Abraham
I am one of them and so are you
So let's all praise the Lord.
Right arm!
Father Abraham had many sons
Many sons had Father Abraham
I am one of them and so are you
So let's all praise the Lord.
Right arm, left arm!
Father Abraham had many sons
Many sons had Father Abraham
I am one of them and so are you
So let's all praise the Lord.
Right arm, left arm, right foot!
Father Abraham had many sons
Many sons had Father Abraham
I am one of them and so are you
So let's all praise the Lord.
Right arm, left arm, right foot, left foot!
Father Abraham had many sons
Many sons had Father Abraham
I am one of them and so are you
So let's all praise the Lord.
Right arm, left arm, right foot, left foot,
Nod your head!
Father Abraham had many sons
Many sons had Father Abraham
I am one of them and so are you
So let's all praise the Lord.
Right arm, left arm, right foot, left foot,
Nod your head, turn around!
Father Abraham had many sons
Many sons had Father Abraham
I am one of them and so are you
So let's all praise the Lord.
Right arm, left arm, right foot, left foot,
Nod your head, turn around, jump up and down!
Clap your hands
Stomp your feet
Say Amen (Amen)
Say Amen (Amen)
Say Amen (Amen)
Jump up and down
Clap your hands
And stomp your feet
Come on, Say Amen (Amen)
Now sit down!
The song is a reference to Abraham, the man who migrated from the Sumerian city of Ur to the land of Canaan (modern Palestine-Israel) and is considered to be the father of all believers by Jewish, Muslims and Christians alike. He had seven sons, and each son became father of a tribe, one of the seven tribes of Israel.
The song though has no religious content, and since Abraham was a popular in America, no Bible connection is needed to understand the song, but nevertheless this kids fun song was designed to get children familiar with Abraham and the fact that he had 7 sons, the founders of the seven tribes. Today the song is very popular in Sunday schools, but also in summer camps, both among religious and non-religiuos environments.
