Ding Dong Bell is one of the popular nursery rhymes for kids. Even though its origin is credited
to John Lant in the year 1580, it was not until the year 1609 that it first appeared in print.
The phrase ‘Ding, Dong, Bell’ also finds its place in some popular plays by Shakespeare, like The Tempest and The Merchant of Venice.

Ding, dong, bell, Pussy’s in the well.

Who pulled her out? Little Tommy Stout.
What a naughty boy was that to try to drown poor pussy cat who never did him any harm, but ate all of the mice in the farmers barn.

PUSSY = (also "pussy cat") Another word for "cat". Here it is also used as a proper name for that cat.

WELL= A deep hole in the ground to get water.

DROWN= Kill a person or animal by pulling them under water.

HARM= Damage.

MICE= Plural of mouse.

BARN= A big wooden store house in the countryside to keep the hay, crop, tools, machinery and maybe animals (see picture)
