This man came out of a relationship badly hurt. At this moment he can't love, he can't feel, his heart is numb, like dead. Time heals everything and some day he will be able to love again, but not just yet. All he's asking for is a little patience.
Just have a little patience
I'm still hurting from a love I lost
I'm feeling your frustration
But any minute all the pain will stop.
Just hold me close inside your arms tonight
Don't be too hard on my emotions.
'Cause I
Need time
My heart is numb, has no feeling
So while I'm still healing
Just try and have a little patience.
I really wanna start over again
I know you wanna be my salvation
The one that I can always depend.
I'll try to be strong
Believe me I'm trying to move on
It's complicated but understand me
'Cause I
Need time
My heart is numb, has no feeling
So while I'm still healing
Just try and have a little patience. Yeah
Have a little patience. Yeah
'Cause the scar runs so deep
It's been hard but I have to believe
Have a little patience
Have a little patience
Oh
'Cause I
I just need time
My heart is numb, has no feeling
So while I'm still healing
Just try and have a little patience
Have a little patience
My heart is numb, has no feeling
So while I’m still healing
Just try and have a little patience
PATIENCE= Pronounced /peɪʃəns/. The adjective is "patient" (a patient person has patience).
I’M STILL HURTING= I still feel pain. Notice the preposition we use "hurt from something" to state the cause of our pain.
ANY MINUTE= We use ANY in affirmative sentences to express the idea of "whatever", "it doesn’t matter which", "it may be this or that", e.g.
- I’ve got 20 books, you can read any book you want. (it doesn't matter which book you take)
The expression "any minute" means "it may happen soon, maybe, who knows".
HOLD= Embrace, hug, put your arms around someone.
HOLD ME CLOSE= Hold me tight.
DON’T BE TOO HARD ON SOMETHING= Be soft and understanding in your judgment, be nice about that.
'CAUSE= Because.
NUMB= If a part of your body is numb, you can’t feel anything there. For instance, if you sit on your hand for a while, the blood flow will stop and your hand will get numb, so you don’t feel it. After a time, when the blood comes back to your hand, you feel an itchy sensation called "have pins and needles", and after that everything is fine again.
HEART= Notice the pronunciation /hɑ:*t/.
MY HEART IS NUMB, HAS NO FEELING= The second subject is missing: it (my heart) has no feeling.
WANNA= Want to
START OVER= Start from the beginning again.
MOVE ON= Continue to the next thing. Stop one thing and start a new thing. Continue with your normal life after something tragic happened.
SCAR= A mark left on the skin after a surface injury or wound has healed or is partially healed. If a scar runs deep, the wound was deep and serious.
I HAVE TO BELIEVE= I must have faith and trust that the future will be better.
This song is very deep-feeling and can be really thrilling if you are in a similar situation. Today everybody’s used to rushing all the time, also in love matters. Too many people jump from relationship to relationship, scared of missing chances if they wait too long. But this song is asking for patience. It can be used to describe being patient with a lover, a friend or even yourself. We often don’t let our wounds heal and plunge into a new relationship with our heart still broken, but if we’re not ready, we can easily break other people’s heart... and ourselves yet again.
I heard "Take That" talking about the meaning of this song, and they said that it's about a guy coming out of a relationship and having someone else interested in him. Even though he wants to move on and be with this girl, he's hurting from what he's been through and he's asking for a bit of time to get his head sorted out.
