- That’s a good idea.
If a group of people need ideas to do something together, they need suggestions. Remember that a suggestion is an idea to do something together, so a suggestion refers to WE (not I).
There are many different ways to make suggestions in English, but the most common ones are four:
- What can we do tonight?
1- Let's go to the cinema!
2- Why don't we go to the cinema?
3- What about going to the cinema? / How about going to the cinema?
4- Shall we go to the cinema?
Possible answers:
- OK, let's go!
- Yes, of course.
- Sure, why not?
- That's a good idea!
- No, I don't think that's a good idea
- Sorry, I don't like going to the cinema
- Not again!
- Ok, but let's think about more ideas.
What/How about... ? is followed by -ING or by a noun:
- What can we do?
- What about playing football
- No, I don't like football
- What about tennis?
- Yea, I love tennis! Let's play tennis!
Sure = Of course!
