Description

This conference, hosted by the British Council, is not about religion but about the English language. Sit back and imagine you really are at a conference in England. If you want to skip the boring introduction stuff and go straight to the meaty part, jump to minute 6:12, the real conference starts there.

On 7 July 2011, the British Council invited Professor David Crystal to speak at the English-Speaking Union in London about the influence of the King James Bible on the English language and especially its idioms.

The King James Bible, usually referred simply as KJB or KJV (King James Version), is called the Authorized Version, and it is an English translation of the Bible made for the Church of England in 1611. You can read more in this Wikipedia article: King James Version.
