This is the song that plays during the end credits of the movie The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, the second in a trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien, "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" continues the adventure of the title character Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) on an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor. Watch trailer here.
Director Peter Jackson and his co-producer wife Fran Walsh chose to Sheeran to write and perform the tune following the advice of their daughter. "'I See Fire' is Ed's emotional response to the film," said Jackson. "It's perfect."

Oh, misty eye of the mountain below Keep careful watch of my brothers' souls And should the sky be filled with fire and smoke Keep watching over Durin's sons |
If this is to end in fire Calling out father, stand by and we will Watch the flames burn auburn on the mountain side Watch the flames climb high into the night Then we shall all burn together |
Then we should all die together Desolation comes upon the sky Calling out father, prepare as we will Raise a glass of wine for the last time And if we should die tonight Watch the flames burn auburn on the mountain side |
I see fire, burning the trees And I hope that you'll remember me I see fire, blood in the breeze And I see fire, hollowing souls Now I see fire, inside the mountain |
Desolation comes upon the sky Confined in mountain halls Calling out father hold fast and we will Watch the flames burn auburn on the mountain side Oh, should my people fall We got too close to the flame Then surely I'll do the same |
I see fire, burning the trees And I hope that you'll remember me And I see fire, hollowing souls I see fire, blood in the breeze Now I see fire, inside the mountain |
For if the dark returns then And with that shadow upon the ground And if the night is burning I hear my people screaming out It crashed into this lonely town I will cover my eyes My brothers will die And as the sky's falling down |
I see fire, hollowing souls I see fire, blood in the breeze Now I see fire, inside the mountains I see fire, burning the trees |
I see fire, feel the heat upon my skin (fire) And I see fire (fire) I see fire, oh you know I saw a city burning (fire) And I see fire burn auburn on the mountain side |
