This is the song that plays during the end credits of the movie The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, the second in a trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien, "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" continues the adventure of the title character Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) on an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor. Watch trailer here.
Director Peter Jackson and his co-producer wife Fran Walsh chose to Sheeran to write and perform the tune following the advice of their daughter. "'I See Fire' is Ed's emotional response to the film," said Jackson. "It's perfect."

Keep careful watch of my brothers' souls Keep watching over Durin's sons And should the sky be filled with fire and smoke Oh, misty eye of the mountain below |
Watch the flames climb high into the night Then we shall all burn together If this is to end in fire Watch the flames burn auburn on the mountain side Calling out father, stand by and we will |
Calling out father, prepare as we will Desolation comes upon the sky Then we should all die together And if we should die tonight Watch the flames burn auburn on the mountain side Raise a glass of wine for the last time |
Now I see fire, inside the mountain I see fire, burning the trees And I see fire, hollowing souls I see fire, blood in the breeze And I hope that you'll remember me |
Then surely I'll do the same Confined in mountain halls Oh, should my people fall Calling out father hold fast and we will Desolation comes upon the sky We got too close to the flame Watch the flames burn auburn on the mountain side |
And I see fire, hollowing souls I see fire, blood in the breeze I see fire, burning the trees Now I see fire, inside the mountain And I hope that you'll remember me |
It crashed into this lonely town My brothers will die And if the night is burning And as the sky's falling down And with that shadow upon the ground I will cover my eyes I hear my people screaming out For if the dark returns then |
I see fire, burning the trees I see fire, hollowing souls Now I see fire, inside the mountains I see fire, blood in the breeze |
I see fire, feel the heat upon my skin (fire) I see fire, oh you know I saw a city burning (fire) And I see fire (fire) And I see fire burn auburn on the mountain side |
