This is the song that plays during the end credits of the movie The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, the second in a trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien, "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" continues the adventure of the title character Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) on an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor. Watch trailer here.
Director Peter Jackson and his co-producer wife Fran Walsh chose to Sheeran to write and perform the tune following the advice of their daughter. "'I See Fire' is Ed's emotional response to the film," said Jackson. "It's perfect."

Keep careful watch of my brothers' souls Keep watching over Durin's sons Oh, misty eye of the mountain below And should the sky be filled with fire and smoke |
Watch the flames climb high into the night Then we shall all burn together If this is to end in fire Watch the flames burn auburn on the mountain side Calling out father, stand by and we will |
Desolation comes upon the sky And if we should die tonight Raise a glass of wine for the last time Then we should all die together Calling out father, prepare as we will Watch the flames burn auburn on the mountain side |
Now I see fire, inside the mountain And I hope that you'll remember me I see fire, burning the trees I see fire, blood in the breeze And I see fire, hollowing souls |
Then surely I'll do the same We got too close to the flame Desolation comes upon the sky Watch the flames burn auburn on the mountain side Confined in mountain halls Calling out father hold fast and we will Oh, should my people fall |
Now I see fire, inside the mountain And I hope that you'll remember me And I see fire, hollowing souls I see fire, blood in the breeze I see fire, burning the trees |
I hear my people screaming out I will cover my eyes And as the sky's falling down And with that shadow upon the ground It crashed into this lonely town My brothers will die And if the night is burning For if the dark returns then |
I see fire, blood in the breeze I see fire, burning the trees I see fire, hollowing souls Now I see fire, inside the mountains |
I see fire, oh you know I saw a city burning (fire) And I see fire (fire) And I see fire burn auburn on the mountain side I see fire, feel the heat upon my skin (fire) |
