We do it very fast because it's a very short vowel and we level our hands with our mouth to better connect lips and hands movements.

Make a sudden jerky motion closing your palm in the air into a fist, as when you catch a fly. That sudden jerk signifies that the vowel is very short, so short it often disappears altogether.
