And the winner is...
The Christian rock band Third Day organised a contest among young people to offer a music video for their song "Sing a Song". This group of guys produced this video, which won the contest.

Note: The name of the band, "Third Day", is a reference to the resurrection of Christ, who died on the cross and rose up again "on the third day".

- My family's messed up. M-my dad is never home and when he is, he and my mum always fight.
- Yeah, I know what you mean.
- Sorry, man.
- Uh, whenever I get like that I just...
- Hey, everyone, look at this. "Third Day" is having a video contest.
- What's Third Day?
- It's a band. And they're asking youth groups to make a video on the song "Sing a Song".
- Hey, I like that song: "I wanna sing a song..."
- No, not now. Look, we can do this, we make videos every week at youth group.
- Yeah, that's right / It's true.
- And I have an idea.
Along / A song of Your faithfulness
A song of Your grace
And of Your lov...

- No, everybody does that.
- Yeah, ++++ that kind of thing.
- I was thinking more like...
I wanna sing a song for You, Lord
And Lord, for You I want to sing a song
And I...

- Sure, but doesn't [it] sound a little boring to have like four minutes of you singing country?
- You gotta better idea?
- Yeah, [I] have a great idea.
With everything that’s in me, Lord...
- Ah... no, that's... not gonna work.
- Hey, I was thinking... maybe we could do something a little more... abstract.
We’ll sing holy, holy, holy
We’ll shout holy, holy...

- Yeah, I could definitely do that for four minutes.
- Well, that's just stupid.
- I think we should ask a professor what he thinks we should do.
- Yea, ++++.
- These lyrics represent the tension of the young person. What we see is the selfish "I want", "I want", "I want" as the individual searches for something larger than his own pain. Later ++++ with a community, a community of faith, a community of love, a place of sharing the faith.
- Is there such a place?
- Yes, yes, I believe there is. The beginning of the song reflects the hopelessness of the individual, where he says: "huh, I forgot to have a start... a-one, two..."

I wanna sing a song for You, Lord
And Lord, for You I wanna sing a song
And I want to lift my voice to Heaven
And listen to the angels sing along

A song of Your faithfulness
A song of Your grace
And of Your loving kindness
To the glory of Your name
With everything that’s in me, Lord
Listen to me say
I wanna sing a song for You
I wanna sing a song

And I wanna live my life for You, Lord
Oh, Lord, for You I wanna live my life
And I wanna praise the name of Jesus
And pray above all things You’re glorified

A song of Your faithfulness
A song of Your grace
And of Your loving kindness
To the glory of Your name
With everything that’s in me, Lord
Listen to me say
I wanna sing a song for You
I wanna sing a song

And I sing about Your mercy
And I sing about Your love
Your goodness, Lord
Your righteousness
I wanna sing...

A song of Your faithfulness
A song of Your grace
And of Your loving kindness
To the glory of Your name
With everything that’s in me, Lord
Listen to me say
I wanna sing a song for You
I wanna sing a song

A song of Your faithfulness, Lord
And of Your love and kindness
To the glory of Your name
With everything that’s in me, Lord
Listen to me say
I wanna sing a song for You
I wanna sing a song

And we’ll sing holy, holy, holy
We’ll sing holy, holy, holy
We’ll shout holy, holy
Are You Lord almighty

Yes, You are Lord

We’ll sing holy, holy, holy
We’ll shout holy, holy, holy
We’ll sing holy, holy
Are You Lord almighty

[repeat and fade out]

- There is such a place!

MY FAMILY'S MESSED UP= My family is a disaster, they're in trouble.

I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN= I can understand you (often said when you are living a similar situation).

WHENEVER= Every time.

I GET LIKE THAT= I feel that way.

SURE= (coll.) Of course.

LIKE= (coll.) more or less. This word is often overused in informal conversation and so it often means nothing.

YOU GOTTA= (coll.) You've got a...

GONNA= (coll.) going to.

SELFISH= centred on himself. Thinking only of himself.

SEARCHES= Looks for.

LARGER= Bigger, of more importance.

PAIN= Suffering.

IS THERE SUCH A PLACE?= Does a place like that exist?

HOPELESSNESS= The state of being without hope, feeling things are never going to get better.

LIFT= Raise, send up.

SING ALONG= If two people sing along, they sing together, at the same time.

FAITHFULNESS= The quality of being faithful. If you are faithful, people can trust you because you will never fail them.

GRACE= Mercy; clemency.

LOVING= Having love in it, showing love or produced by love.

GLORY= Splendour, great honour.

YOUR NAME= You.

PRAISE= Worship.

THE NAME OF JESUS= Jesus.
(in biblical language, the name of a person can represent his soul, his identity)

PRAY= Beseech, implore, ask earnestly.
This verb means to say a prayer (to speak to God or someone in heaven):
- I pray to God three times a day.
But we can also use it, as here, to express that we really wish something to happen:
- I pray he'll be alright = God, please, protect him
- Pray it may rain soon = I really wish it may rain
So the sentence "And pray above all things You're glorified" means "And I really want You to be glorified above all things".
We can also use PRAY with imperatives to ask for something politely:
- Close the door, I pray = Will you close the door, please?
- Pray, take one = Please, take one.

MERCY= Compassionate treatment, especially of those under one's power; clemency.

RIGHTEOUSNESS= The quality of adhering to moral principles, being good and fair (just).

HOLY= Sacred, saint, all-good.
Repeating this word three times is a usual Christian formula to praise God because God has, according to Christians, three natures (Father, Son & Holy Spirit).

ALMIGHTY= All-powerful, having absolute power; who can do anything at all.
