Simple Life -A Cappella cover (Casey Abrams)

It isn't EDM but my sister Astrid wanted to try this song :). I thought it was good to practice an acousticky song like this.

The original song is by Casey Abrams, you can see it here.

Don't need no TV I don't need no phone
don't need a speedy car to get me home
Don't need no nothing all I need is time - for the simple life
go get your butt out off that lazy couch
put down the laptop and get out of the house
Don't need no nothing all I need is time - for the simple life

I got a brand new scratch on my cadillac
try to call the bodyshop but my phone is dead
tried to email my brother but the wifi's down
this stuff is haunting me all year round

I'm fixing one thing and another one's coming lose
it's making me think - how much it stinks
I keep on buying new things that I can't really use
if it just gets you annoyed - then what is the point

Don't need no TV I don't need no phone
don't need a speedy car to get me home
Don't need no nothing all I need is time - for the simple life
go get your butt out off that lazy couch
put down the laptop and get out of the house
Don't need no nothing all I need is time - for the simple life

I'm taking one step forward and three steps back
kick myself for letting go of the things I had
guess you don't know what you got till that junk goes bad
never should have dumped that hand me down I got from dad

I'm solve one problem and another one's popping up
ain't it ironic how the problem get's chronic
cause when you got it good - you just don't know when to stop
don't worry bout the earning - if it stops you from living

Duhm Duhm Duhm's and Scooby doo's

Don't need no TV I don't need no phone
don't need a speedy car to get me home
Don't need no nothing all I need is time - for the simple life
Don't need no TV I don't need no phone
don't need a speedy car to get me home
Don't need no nothing all I need is time - for the simple life
go get your butt out off that lazy couch
put down the laptop and get out of the house
It doesn't hurt if you would try some times it's the simple life

DON’T NEED NO TV= Double negatives are wrong in standard English but quite common in more colloquial English.

SPEEDY= Fast.

NO NOTHING= Anything (another double negative)

GO GET YOUR BUTT OUT OFF THAT LAZY COUCH= Go and move, don’t stay sitting on that sofa the whole day!

LAPTOP= A portable computer.

BRAND NEW= Totally new.

BODYSHOP= (AmE) An auto repair shop or garage specializing in fixes or modifications to a car's chassis (doors, hood, bumpers)... As opposed to a conventional auto mechanic who fixes mostly motors. Careful, in BrE a Bodyshop is a chain of shops selling beauty products.

MY PHONE IS DEAD= The batteries of my phone is empty so it doesn’t work, I need to recharge it.

STUFF= Thing, things.

HAUNTING= If something haunts you it is always there, you can’t forget about it.

FIXING= Repairing.

COMING LOSE= If a piece of machinery comes lose, it separates a bit or totally from where it should be, so the machine or device is not working properly, or not working at all.

IT STINKS= It’s terrible, I hate it.

KEEP ON + -ing= Continue + -ing

ANNOYED= Angry.

WHAT IS THE POINT?= It’s absurd, nonsense.

KICK MYSELF FOR...= I am angry at myself for...

LETTING GO OF= Abandon, do without something.

GUESS= (coll.) I suppose.

YOU GOT= You have, you have got.

JUNK= Trash, things with no value.

DUMPED= Throw away, abandon.

HAND-ME-DOWN= Something that nobody bought for you, but you received from another person who was using it before, usually your older brothers or sister, or older cousins or parents, etc.

I’M SOLVE= It should be “I’ve solved”.

POPPING UP= Appearing.

AIN’T= (very colloquial) The negative of all the forms of the verb To Be or To Have in the present.
- Ain’t it cool? = Isn’t it cool? = It is very cool
- You ain’t got a pound, right?

CAUSE= (coll.) Because.

WHEN YOU GOT IT GOOD= When things are fine in your life.

BOUT= (coll.) About.

Things don't help you be happy, but make your life much more complicated, so why don't we try to lead a simple life? It's also cheaper :)

No, not easy, we're so used to things that if we do without, we miss them a lot, but just because we're used to them.
