He cries in the corner where nobody sees
He's the kid with the story no one would believe
He prays every night, "Dear God, won't you please
Could you send someone here who will love me?"

Who will love me for me
Not for what I have done or what I will become
Who will love me for me
'Cause nobody has shown me what love
What love really means

Her office is shrinking a little each day
She's the woman whose husband has run away
She'll go to the gym after working today
Maybe if she was thinner
Then he would've stayed
And she says…

Who will love me for me?
Not for what I have done or what I will become
Who will love me for me?
'Cause nobody has shown me what love
What love really means
Hey

He's waiting to die as he sits all alone
He's a man in a cell who regrets what he's done
He utters a cry from the depths of his soul
"Oh Lord, forgive me, I want to go home"

Then he heard a voice
Somewhere deep inside
And it said
"I know you've murdered and I know you've lied
And I watched you suffer all of your life
And now that you'll listen, I, I'll tell you that I...
I will love you for you
Not for what you have done or what you will become
I will love you for you
I will give you the love
The love that you never knew

Love you for you
Not for what you have done or what you will become
I will love you for you
I will give you the love
The love that you never knew"

CRIES= Weeps (when you shed tears through your eyes because you are so sad)

KID= (coll.) Child.

THE STORY NO ONE WOULD BELIEVE= Not because he is telling a lie, but because his life is so incredible (in this case so terrible) that people cannot belive that is happening to him for real (most probably because of sexual abuse)

PRAYS= To pray is to talk to God.

WON’T YOU PLEASE= An emphatic form of “please”

CAUSE= (coll.) Because.

SHRINKING= Becoming smaller.
If the place where you are is shrinking every day, that means that you are feeling more and more uncomfortable there.

RUN AWAY= Escaped.

ALL ALONE= Completely alone.

CELL= A prison cell, a room inside a prison where criminals are locked most of the time.

REGRETS= If you regret something you did, you are very sorry for what you did.

UTTERS= To pronounce

A CRY= A cry is a shout, a very loud sound you make.

THE DEPTHS= The deep part of something.

SOUL= Spirit, your immortal part.

LORD= God.

I WANT TO GO HOME= He’s not talking about his house, he can’t. “Home” is also the figurative place where you feel is the right place for you, where you find love and understanding, protected and happy. This man, who is going to die, is talking about heaven, God’s company, not about his house.

MURDERED= To murder is to kill someone on purpose (because you want to, not accidentally)

LIED= To lie is to say something which is not true.

Real love is accepting a person just the way they are, without conditions, with all their problems and limitations and without wanting to change them. Real love is loving you for you, "not for what you have done or for what you will become".

Everybody wants to feel that kind of love, perfect love. In fact, everybody needs to be loved like that. Only God's love is perfect, because He is perfect Love, but He is also the model that we all must try to immitate if we want to truly love someone. And if you feel that true love is missing in your life, think twice, you already have it, there is at least someone who loves you with total acceptance, all you have to do is accept His love and try to reflect it on others, then you can be the perfect love for the ones around you.
