CAN I HAVE...?

We use this construction to ask politely for something.
If you want a pen you can say:
- I want a pen huh
- Give me a pen huh
But that's not nice. It is nicer and polite to say:
- Can I have a pen, please? pleased

We use the construction CAN I...? (without "have") to ask for permission:
- Can I open the window, please?
- Can I go to the toilet?
