Charlie and Lola is an animated television series based on the Charlie and Lola books written by Lauren Child.

What Can I Wear for Halloween?

I have this little sister, Lola. She is small and very funny. Tomorrow night is Halloween, so there's gonna be a special party at school. We've all got to wear Halloween's costumes.

Are you going to dress up, Charlie?
I am dressed up, Lola. I'm a wizard.
Oh, that's what I'm going at, Charlie. Snap, snap.
You went as an alligator last year, Lola.
I'm not an alligator, I'm a crocodile. Crocodiles are more scaring +++ than alligators.
You can't go in the same costume.
Uhm, I'll have to think of something else.
You could be a wicked witch.
Everybody will be going as a wicked witch, Charlie. I want to go as something different.
What about going as a creepy spider?
Mmmm... I'm not sure about spiders, Charlie.
Uh, how about a bony skeleton, Lola?
Uhhhh...
Whoosh!
Aah!
[ Laughs ] too scary, Charlie!
[ Both laugh ] I've got the wickedest pointy hat.
Me too!
Oh.
You're going as a wicked witch, too?
Hmm.
I knew everyone would be going as a wicked witch.
Not me.
I'm going as a wiggly hairy monster with eyes that are all woogly wobbly.
[ Both laugh ] eek! eek!
Squeak!
Squeak!
I'm going as a horrible squeaky boy bat!
Eek!
Oh, I don't know what to go as.
I bet there's gonna be toffee apples at the spooky party.
And those little cakes with the orange icing on top.
What about bat cookies?
Yes, bat cookies for bats!
Eek!
Eek! eek!
But nothing's going to be better than the you know what!
Yes, yes, yes!
[ Laughs ] nothing will be better than our surprise.
No, nothing's going to be better than the big, enormous you know what.
[ Sighs ] ooh!
Wow.
That is actually the biggest pumpkin I've ever seen.
It is as big and orangy as the sun.
Mmm, and when my dad does the face, it's gonna be the best pumpkin lantern in the whole of halloween.
Yes!
[ Laughter ] um, how are we going to get it to school?
Very, very slowly.
[ Chuckles ] I can't believe we growed all of it from a tiny little seed.
We did because we're very good growers.
I made a hole to plant the seed.
And it was very deep enough.
Then I put the teeny-tiny seed into the hole.
Marv We watered it every day for weeks.
And then I put a bit of straw under it.
Not yet, marv.
That was after.
Yes.
After I stopped it getting rained on and going all mushy.
Then I made a bed of straw.
Lola No.
Oh.
Then I read to it 'cause plants like being talked to.
Yep.
, "and the beautiful princess' carriage "turned back into the pumpkin.
And the pumpkin lived happily " [ both laugh ] the end.
And then I made a bed of -- Shhh!
It's sleeping.
Oh.
Oh.
Wow.
That's amazing.
We really do have the biggest and orangiest halloween pumpkin that could possibly ever grow!
hanson might even talk about it in assembly.
[ Sighs ] I still don't know what to go as, Charlie.
Uh, why don't you dress up as a wolf?
F is going as a wolf.
What about a deep-sea monster that's all made out of seaweed?
Blah!
Too slimy.
[ Sighs ] don't worry, Lola.
You'll think of something.
Hmm.
And you mustn't tell anyone.
We've been growing it for weeks and weeks and weeks.
Months!
And even whole years!
Mmm.
Really?
A ginormous, actual pumpkin?
Eek! eek!
Shhh!
Eek!
Squeak, squeak!
Whew!
It's absolutely going to be the halloweeniest thing at the party.
Better than my costume?
Mmm.
What are you going as, Lola?
..
She doesn't know yet.
Uh, I haven't decided exactly completely yet.
I'm going as the wicked witch of the west.
Me too.
you're just going as a wicked witch.
I'm going as the wicked witch of the west.
[ Bell rings ] come on.
Dad will have cut the you know what.
Ooh.
Cool.
hanson will definitely talk about our pumpkin in assembly.
[ Laughs ] [ grunting ] still no idea what to dress up as, Lola?
I can't think of anything extremely scary, marv.
I told you, Lola.
It doesn't have to be scary.
Yes, it does.
It has to be totally terrifying.
It doesn't have to be scary.
Whew!
It just better be quick.
It's not long till the party.
Morten Eek!
Eek! eek!
Morten's on the prowl.
Whatever you do, don't mention the mm-mm.
It's got to be a total surprise.
Mmm.

Nothing.
It's a very big nothing.
Is it a ball?
No.
I like your bat suit, morten.
Is it one of those bouncy, hoppy things?
No.
You know, one of those that you sit on.
Eek!
Like this!
No!
No!
[ Gasps ] morten!
Oh, no!
Oh.
Morten!
Sorry.
[ Sniffles ] I didn't know it was a pumpkin.
[ Sniffles ] sorry.
We know, morten.
We know.
[ Sighs ] [ sighs ] I don't want to go to the halloween party anymore.
Maybe someone else will take a pumpkin.
[ Chuckles ] it'll never be as good as our pumpkin.
[ Sniffles ] it doesn't matter, morten.
I haven't got a costume, anyway.
Ugh.
[ Sighs ] hmm!
Ooh.
[ Giggles ] mum!
[ Laughs ] eh?
Mum! mum!
[ Laughs ] [ laughs ] look at the toffee apples!
Oh, look at those cakes!

I'm a wiggly monster with woggly eyes!
Wawoo! wiggle, woggle!
Woggle, woggle!

Because that is definitely the best dressing-up costume.
Come on.
Let's go get some pumpkin pie.
