Christina Judith Perri (born August 19, 1986) is an American singer-songwriter and musician from Philadelphia. Her debut single, which was an emotional ballad called "Jar of Hearts", charted after it was featured on the Fox television show So You Think You Can Dance in 2010. The single went on to sell over 3 million copies in the United States and was a hit around the world. In the UK, it reached number three on the charts and spent over 3 months in the UK Top 40. A few months later, Perri released her first extended play, The Ocean Way Sessions.

Perri moved to Los Angeles, California on her 21st birthday. According to Perri, she felt terrified of being over 3000 miles away from her family, saying that she "cried [her] eyes out every day". Later that year she married, moved to Florida and began to produce music videos for a living. She divorced 18 months later and moved in to a small apartment on her own to focus entirely on working on music. She moved back to Philadelphia by the end of 2009; it was during this time that she wrote "Jar of Hearts". She later moved back to Los Angeles, waitressing at the Melrose Cafe during the day and recording at night.

Perri announced her second concert tour would be titled the Head or Heart Tour and will begin in April 2014.

The sun is filling up the room
And I can hear you dreaming
Do you feel the way I do, right now?

I wish we would just give up
Because the best part is falling
Calling anything but love

And I will make sure to keep my distance
Say I love you when you're not listening
And how long can we keep this up, up, up?

Please don't stand so close to me
I'm having trouble breathing
I'm afraid of what you'll see, right now

I'll give you everything I am
All my broken heartbeats
Until I know you'll understand

And I will make sure to keep my distance
Say I love you when you're not listening
And how long can we keep this up, up, up?

And I keep waiting
For you to take me
And you keep waiting
To save what we have

So I'll make sure to keep my distance
Say I love you when you're not listening
And how long can we keep this up, up, up?

Make sure to keep my distance
Say I love you when you're not listening
How long till we call this love, love, love?

"Distance" is a song by American singer-songwriter Christina Perri. The new version of the track featuring Jason Mraz is the third official single taken from the deluxe version of her debut studio album "Lovestrong" (2011) released on March 20, 2012. It was written by Perri and co-written and produced by David Hodges. It is a midtempo ballad about "loving someone at the wrong time in your life" (Maybe it's too soon, maybe it's too late) and "being around that one whom your heart longs for without being able to show your true feelings".

Perri said: "It's very hard to keep love a secret, and I wrote this song about the one time I had to.

With lyrics like, "Please don’t stand so close to me, I’m having trouble breathing, I’m afraid of what you’ll see right now," it reflects reality for anyone who has ever fallen in love.
