Merry Christmas.

One day, one day, one day...

Sometimes I lay under the moon
And thank God I'm breathing
And I pray don't take me soon
Cause I am here for a reason

Sometimes in my tears I drown
But I never let it get me down
So when negativity surrounds
I know some day it'll all turn around
Because

All my life I've been waiting for
I've been praying for
For the people to say
That we don't wanna fight no more
There'll be no more wars
And our children will play
One day, one day, one day
One day, one day, one day

It's not about win or lose
We all lose when they feed on the souls of the innocent
Blood drenched pavement
Keep on moving though the waters stay raging

In this maze you can lose your way
It might drive you crazy
but don't let it phase you, no way. No way!

Sometimes in my tears I drown
But I never let it get me down
So when negativity surrounds
I know some day it'll all turn around
Because

All my life I've been waiting for
I've been praying for
For the people to say
That we don't wanna fight no more
There'll be no more wars
And our children will play
One day, one day, one day
One day, one day, one day

One day this all will change
Treat people the same
Stop with the violence
Down with the hate
One day we'll all be free
And proud to be
Under the same sun
Singing songs of freedom like
Wi-o, wi-o-yo-yo
Wi-o, wi-o-yo-yo

All my life I've been waiting for
I've been praying for
For the people to say
That we don't wanna fight no more
There'll be no more wars
And our children will play
One day, one day, one day
One day, one day, one day

Sometimes in my tears I drown
But I never let it get me down
So when negativity surrounds
I know some day it'll all turn around
Because

All my life I've been waiting for
I've been praying for
For the people to say
That we don't wanna fight no more
There'll be no more wars
And our children will play
One day, one day, one day
One day, one day, one day

Wi-o, wi-o-yo-yo

All my life I've been waiting for
I've been praying for
For the people to say
That we don't wanna fight no more
There'll be no more wars
And our children will play
One day, one day, one day
One day, one day, one day

One day, one day, one day

I'M BREATHING= To breathe is to get air inside and outside your body, but here it simply means "to be alive", to live.

I PRAY DON'T TAKE ME SOON= Since he's talking to God, this means that he's telling God that he doesn't want to die soon. (to pray = to talk to God)

CAUSE= (coll.) Because (also spelled cos, coz in BrE, cus, cuz in AmE)

DROWN= /draʊn/ To drown is to die because you are under water and you can't breathe. If you drown in your tears, you cry (weep) so so much that you could drown in that liquid (you feel terribly sad).

SURROUNDS= Is everywhere (around you)

TURN AROUND= If something turns around, it becomes its opposite. So if your life is terrible and it turns around, it becomes wonderful.

WANNA= (coll. esp. AmE) Want to.

NO MORE= This line has a double negative: "we DON'T wanna fight NO more". This is not correct in standard English but it is quite common in colloquial English, especially in black American English.

FEED ON= If you feed on something, you eat that to survive. Metaphorically it means that you get your energy from that thing.

SOULS= Spirits.

BLOOD= /blʌd/ The red liquid that runs inside our veins and keeps us alive.

DRENCHED= If something is drenched, it has lots of water or another liquid covering it or inside it. In this case, the pavement is drenched with blood, so there is a lot of blood on the pavement.

PAVEMENT= This is AmE so it is the part of the street where cars run, the part where people walk is called "side-walk". In BrE, the part where people walk is the pavement and where cars go is "the road".

KEEP ON (+ -ing)= Continue.

THE WATERS STAY RAGING= This refers to how the sea can be so menacing during a storm. We can also say that a war, a fire or an epidemic is raging (i.e. spreads violently, furiously, intensely). Here, the expression is used metaphorically.

MAZE= Labyrinth

MIGHT= The modal verbs "may" or "might" can be used to express possibility:
- Take an umbrella, it might rain (= maybe it will rain).

DRIVE YOU CRAZY= If something drives you crazy, it affects you intensely (for good or for bad) and you become crazy.

PHASE YOU= (coll. AmE) Disturb you, make you worried.

NO WAY= (coll. esp. AmE) Of course not (it's an emphatic way of saying "No!")

DOWN WITH= We use this phrase to express that we don't like something, that we reject it.

PROUD= If you are proud of something you feel satisfaction about something you have done or about something that you are or about a specific situation or person related to you.
