SEARCHING FOR= Looking for.
HOPING FOR= Hope for (something). To be optimistic that one's wish for something will come true; desire sincerely.
UP AND UP= Getting better, actively rising above, coming in to your own, living large and getting larger.
CANVAS= /kænvəs/ A piece of cloth where artists paint.
A CHANCE= The unknown and unpredictable element in happenings that seems to have no assignable cause.
FIELD= /fi:ld/ A broad, level, open expanse of land.
A DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH /rʌf/= A diamond stone as it is in nature, before it is cut so it gets a form and shines.

ABOVE= /əbʌv/ over, higher than (without contact).
FLOOD= /flʌd/ An overflowing of water onto land that is normally dry, a deluge.
IT'S IN YOUR BLOOD= BLOOD /blʌd/is that red liquid which flows inside your body, in your veins, and keeps you alive. "It's in your blood" means that is part of your deepest nature.

GUTTER= The pipe, chute or hole through which dirty water is evacuated. The expression "to be lying in the gutter" means that you failed in life and have no money or prestige or love or anything, so you are a waste.
AIM= If you aim for a place, you have that destiny, you want to get there. If you aim for the moon you have very high objectives.
SEED= A little thing that when put inside earth and watered grows up into a plant or a big tree.
