- Tom, you said the book was "pretty old". What does "pretty" mean? I don't understand, I'm confused. What does "pretty" mean?
- "Pretty" means more than one thing. It means at least two things. It can mean "beautiful", in the sense of "beautiful". Can you see this? Can you see this picture? You could say that's a pretty dress. That's a pretty girl, that's a beautiful dress, that's a beautiful girl. Or, if you say "the book is pretty old", or "that's pretty high", or "I like it pretty much". -"How do you feel? How are you?" -"Pretty good". It doesn't really mean anything. It means "gooood". -"Tom, how are you?" -"gooood". It's like "pretty good". It really doesn't mean anything, so... How's that? Pretty good?
