Hey Guys, here's my first Cover for 2013. I wanted to try out an A Capella Mashup of Taylor Swift (I Knew You Were Trouble) & Justin Bieber (As Long As You Love Me). What do you think?

Whatch the original music video by Taylor Swift here: I Knew You Were Trouble.

Once upon a time, a few mistakes ago
I was in your sights, I got you alone
You found me, you found me
You found me-e-e-e-e

As long as you love me

I guess you didn't care and I guess you liked that
And when you fell hard, I took a step back
Without you, without you
Without you-u-u-u-u

And you're long gone
When she's next to me
And you realize, the blame is on me

As long as you love me
We could be starving, we could be homeless, we could be broke
As long as you love me
I'll be your platinum, I'll be your silver, I'll be your gold

I knew you were trouble when you walked in
So shame on me now
I flew you to places you'd never been

As long as you love

la la la la la la la...

Oh, oh, trouble, trouble, trouble

No apologies, I'll never see you cry
Pretend I don't know that I'm the reason why
You're drowning, you're drowning
You're drowning-ing-ing-ing-ing

And you heard I moved on from whispers on the street
A new notch in my belt is all you'll ever be
And now I see, I now I see
And now I see-e-e-e-e

As long as you love me
We could be starving, we could be homeless, we could be broke
As long as you love me
I'll be your platinum, I'll be your silver, I'll be your gold

Yeah!
I knew you were trouble when you walked in
So shame on me now
I flew you to places you'd never been
Till you put me down
Oh I knew you were trouble when you walked in
So shame on me now
I flew you to places you'd never been
Now I'm lying on the cold hard ground

la la la la la la la...

Yeah, trouble, trouble, trouble
Oh, oh, trouble, trouble, trouble

And the saddest fear
Comes creeping in
That you never loved me...
It hurts everything and everything
Yeah!

I knew you were trouble when you walked in
So shame on me now
I flew you to places you'd never been
Till you put me down
Oh I knew you were trouble when you walked in
So shame on me now
I flew you to places you'd never been
Now I'm lying on the cold hard ground

Oh, Oh, trouble, trouble, trouble
Oh, Oh, trouble, trouble, trouble

I knew you were trouble when you walked in
Trouble, trouble, trouble
I knew you were trouble when you walked in
Trouble, trouble, trouble

I knew you were trouble when you walked in
So shame on me now
I flew you to places you'd never been
Now I'm lying on the cold hard ground

ONCE UPON A TIME= This is how we begin fairy tales (stories for children).

I WAS IN YOUR SIGHTS= You wanted to get me.

AS LONG AS= If.

WE COULD= We could, but I wouldn't mind (because your love would make me happy anyway)

I GUESS= I suppose.

WHEN YOU FELL HARD= When you fell very much in love with me.

YOU’RE LONG GONE= You left a long time ago.

THE BLAME IS ON ME= It is my fault, my mistake.

STARVING= Feeling very hungry (in this case, with nothing to eat because you are poor)

HOMELESS= Without a place to live in.

BROKE= Without money.

PLATINUM /plætnəm/, SILVER, GOLD= The three most precious metals, and the three prizes singers get. (BrE /plætɪnəm/)

TROUBLE= Problems.

WHEN YOU WALKED IN= When I first saw you, when you appeared in my life. "To walk in" literally means "to enter in a place walking".

SHAME ON ME= We say this expression when we did something very wrong and now we regret it and feel sorry. He says "shame on me" because when he first saw her she knew she would be trouble, so he should have stayed away from her. But he didn't, and know he is deep in trouble, so he is sorry about what he did. It is more common to use this expression to tell other people when they do something wrong: "Shame on you!"

I FLEW YOU TO PLACES= I took you on a trip by plane. Also, these "places" may be actual places or may be new experiences or sensations.

YOU'D NEVER BEEN= You had never been.

PRETEND= Make believe what is not true.

DROWNING= /drnɪŋ/ If you are drowning, you can’t breathe because you are underwater. Here it is used metaphorically meaning that you are having a terrible time.

YOU HEARD... FROM WHISPERS ON THE STREET= You got that information from people talking about me, from rumours.

I MOVED ON= If you finish a relationship and then you move on, that means that you forgot about it, don't feel sad anymore, and continue with your life (and probably found a new love).

NOTCH= A mark. He is suppose to make a new mark on his belt every time he seduces a girl or something, so if you are only a new notch in my belt, that means that you were never important for me, because you were only one more girl, another victim.
In the far west, gunmen sometimes made a notch on their pistol every time they killed somebody, to keep the recod. This notch on the belt to keep a "love" record is a reminescence of that other one.

BELT= A complement worn around the waist (see picture)

I SEE= I understand.

CREEPING IN= Moving closer, like an insect with many legs. Also it suggests fear, like something scary is approaching.

This is a mashup, mixing two different songs (one about true love and one about unrequited love). Also, Mike Tompkins changes a few things in Taylor Swift's song, just a few things, but enough to change important meanings. Altogether, this really produces a new message, different from the original messages in the other songs.

The story is a boy who couldn't love, a playboy who collected girls in his life but loved none of them. He seduces yet another girl, but when she falls in love for him he cools down and pushed her away:

When you fell hard, I took a step back without you

Finally she left him because he didn't love her. All this happened a long time ago, and now he has a new girlfriend.

And you're long gone
When she's next to me
And you realize, the blame is on me

Everybody thinks (including her) that she was just another girl, and he let her go and got a new one:

And you heard I moved on from whispers on the street
A new notch in my belt is all you'll ever be
And now I see, And now I see

But the sad true is that he loved her a lot. Well, at least he realized he loved her a lot when he lost her. And now, he misses her so much:

As long as you love me
We could be starving, we could be homeless, we could be broke

And the tables have turned, now he is the one who fears her love was never real, and that is torturing him, because that means that he not only lost the present, but also the past:

And the saddest fear
Comes creeping in
That you never loved me... it hurts everything and everything
